Day 01: Arrival in Paro and to Thimphu

Drive: One hour
Distance: 60km/36miles
Welcome to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Touching down at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and driver upon exiting the arrival and then transfer to Thimphu. Our tour begins with a journey towards booming metropolis of Thimphu. After lunch we will spend our time circumambulating the sacred National Memorial Chorten. This is a Tibetan-style chorten built in 1974 in memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk who passed away in 1972. Next we will vsit the Bhutanese Paper factory. The art of handmade paper in Bhutan dates back to the 8th Century, although usage was limited mainly to religious purposes.

Day 02: Thimphu to Punakha
Drive: 3Hrs
Distance: 76km/45.6miles
Before we drive on the national East - West highway we will see Semtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan built in 1629. After the seeing we will continue our journey towards east. If weather permits we will have great views of the extended eastern himalayas in Bhutan from Dochula pass on our way. Before reaching to Punakha we take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humour, songs and outrageous behaviour to dramatize his teachings and due to this also known as 'Divine Madman'. This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. After lunch visit Punakha Dzong - Built in 1637, the dzong continues to be the winter home for the clergy, headed by the Chief Abbott, the Je Khenpo. It is a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture, sitting at the fork of two rivers, portraying the image of a medieval city from a distance.

Day 03: Punakha Sightseeing

Today we take a short and pleasant hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten which would take around 45 minutes. It was built by the third Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon wangchuck. Then we make a visit to Sungchen Dorji Lhundup Nunnery, Perched on a ridge amid pine trees and overlooking valleys of Toebesa, Punakha and Wangduephodrang, gleams the magnificent structures of Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup lhakhang. The site on which the lhakhang has been built is popularly known as Omolatsekha. The lhakhang comprises a double storied temple, a chorten resembling Nepal's boudhanath stupa and a nunnery complex.

Day 04: Punakha to Paro

Distance: 140km/80miles
Paro is a beautiful valley which encapsulates within itself rich culture, scenic beauty and hundreds of myths and legends. Mount. Jumolhari (7,300 meters) reigns in white glory at the northern end of the valley and its glacial waters plunge through deep gorges to form the Pa Chu (Paro River). Drive to Rinpung Dzong which the locals call the 'fortress of a heap of jewels'. Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong stands on a hill above Paro Town ship and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use.
Take a short walk around Drugyal Dzong which means victorious fortress was built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate his victory over the Tibetan invaders, led by the Mongolian warlord. Hot stone bath, Bhutanese believe and consider it to be one of the best thing to do to cleanse your disease and to gain inner peace.

Day 05: Paro Sightseeing
Morning hike to Tiger's Nest, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. Taktsang or the tiger's nest temple is the most revered temple to the Buddhist. This magical temple clings to a vertical granite cliff 800m above the valley. Legend has it that in the 8th century, Guru Rimpochey, a tantric master flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave around which the temple is built. Afternoon on your way back. Its your last day in Bhutan so in the evening go around the town and if you wish do shoppings and take souvenir, you are in the right place with lots of varieties of art and crafts.Overnight: Paro

Day1: Paro to Thimphu

Arrival in Paro Airport and will be received by the representative of our company that is our guide. Drive to Thimphu sightseeing on the way, the beautiful valleys along the way. After reaching Thimphu, check in to the hotel. After lunch visit to national library, painting school, traditional medicine institute.

Day 2: Thimphu to Punakha

Drive:3 Hrs
Distance:76km/45.6miles
Drive through Dochula pass, the second highest road pass in your trip at 3010m. When the weather permits one can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. After a short tea break continue to sub tropical Punakha. Before reaching punakha we will make a stop and take a short hike around 45 minutes to chimi Lhakhang which is known as temple of fetility. Afternoon visit Punakha Dzong (fortress) which houses the most elaborated temple in the country.

Day 3: Punakha to Thimphu

Drive to Thimphu, sightseeing on the way. After reaching Thimphu visit to Memorial Chorten build in 1974 in the memory of Third King of Bhutan, Changangkha Lhakhang and the Folk Heritage Museum, where a traditional three-stored house has been preserved to show how Bhutanese survived in ancient days. In the evening leisure in town visiting some of the handicraft install where you can find the traditional Bhutanese craft.

Day 4:Thimphu to Paro

Drive to Paro sightseeing on the way. On arrival, visit to Ta Dzong built in 17th century as a watchtower and Rimpung Dzong, "the fortress on a heap of jewels". After lunch make a visit to one of the oldest temple of Bhutan which was believed to be built in 8th century.

Today, we will take it easy to acclimatise to the altitude. Rinpung Dzong which the locals call the 'fortress of a heap of jewels'. Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong stands on a hill above Paro Township and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Check in to the hotel and lets have your first taste of Bhutanese hospitality.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing

Tango Goemba (monastery) is half an hour drive from Thimphu town and 30 minutes hike. It was founded by Lama Gyalwa Lhanangpa in the 12th century and the present building was built in the 15th century by the 'Divine Madman', Lama Drukpa Kunley. National Institute for Zorig Chusum or the School of Arts and Crafts is an Institute where students undertake a six-year course on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. "Zorig Chusum" means the Thirteen Arts and Crafts. To preserve the country's invaluable heritage and promote arts in Bhutan, the government initiated this institute in 1971. The 13 arts and crafts comprise of; painting, carpentry, carving, sculpture, casting, blacksmithing, bamboo work, gold and silversmithing, weaving, embroidery, masonry, leather work, and paper making. Visit National Memorial Chorten (Stupa) was built in 1974 in memory of the Third King of Bhutan and then Takin Reserve to see the rare national animal of Bhutan. This animal is chosen as the national animal of Bhutan for its uniqueness and its association with the country's religious history and mythology.

Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha

Dochula Pass - the 108 chortens was built by the present Queen Mother of Bhutan Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to commemorate Bhutan's victory over indian militants and to liberate the souls of the soldiers lost. Before reaching to Punakha we take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humour, songs and outrageous behaviour to dramatize his teachings and due to this also known as 'Divine Madman'. Day 05: Punakha to Gangtey and back to Punakha

Gangtey Gompa/Phobjikha Valley (Altitude: 3,000m/9,845ft.)
Drive:3 hours
Further going towards the east of Wangdue Phodrang, Gangtey Gompa provides one of the most attractions in Bhutan. It dates back to the 17th century. A few kilometers past the Gompa, on the valley floor is the village of Phobjikha. This is the winter home of black necked cranes that migrate from the arid plains in the north to pass winter in milder and lower climate. Gangtey Gompa, an old monastery dating back to the 16th century is the only monastery, which follows the Pelling Nyingmapa sect of school. After that we will take short hikes around the valley which is very beautiful and breathtaking. On our way back to Punakha we will make a stop and seeWangdue Phodrang dzong which was recently damaged by fire and now its just a ruin.

Taktsang Monastery, popularly known as the Tiger's Nest temple is the Bhutan's most famous monastery perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley. According to legend, Guru Padsambhava is said to have flown on the back of a tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands and hence it's called the 'Tigers Nest'. It was from there, he propagated the Vajrayana- Mahayana Buddhism (Larger Wheel) that was prophesied by the Buddha at the time of attaining Nirvana. This site has been recognized as a most sacred place and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendour. The hike to reach the viewpoint to the monastery makes for a nice half-day excursion.

After breakfast, we will transfer to Paro airport for our flight and we bid a fond farewell to the Kingdom of Bhutan.

TRIP OVERVIEW

This 13 days Pilgrimage tours starts from Paro to central part of Bhutan, Trongsa, Bumthang which was the first place in Bhutan visited by Guru Rimpoche in early 8th century. Offer prayers and lit butter lamps at temples. Also visit Kurjey lakhang, the temple with body imprint of Guru Rimpoche on the Rock. DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival in Paro and to Thimphu
Drive: One hour
Distance:60km/36miles
Welcome to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Touching down at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and driver upon exiting the arrival hall. Today, we will take it easy to acclimatise to the altitude. Drive to Rinpung Dzong which the locals call the 'fortress of a heap of jewels'. Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong stands on a hill above Paro Town ship and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. heck in to the hotel and lets have your first taste of Bhutanese hospitality.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing
Start with National memorial chorten (shrine), visit the Traditional Painting School, a school for Bhutan's 13 traditional Arts and crafts, the National Library where ancient scrolls are preserved and the Handicrafts Emporium.

Day 03: Day hike to Tango / Cherri
Today you can take day hike to Tango / Cherri following the upper Thimphu valley. It is the centre for higher studies for the Buddhist philosophy.

Day 04: Thimphu to Punakha
Drive: 3 hours
Distance:76km/45.6miles
Pass through Dochula Pass, the 108 chortens was built by the present Queen Mother of Bhutan Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to commemorate Bhutan's victory over indian militants and to liberate the souls of the soldiers lost. Before reaching to Punakha we take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humour, songs and outrageous behaviour to dramatize his teachings and due to this also known as 'Divine Madman'. This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. After lunch visit Punakha Dzong - Built in 1637, the dzong continues to be the winter home for the clergy, headed by the Chief Abbott, the Je Khenpo. It is a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture, sitting at the fork of two rivers, portraying the image of a medieval city from a distance.

Day 05: Punakha to Trongsa
Drive: 5 Hrs
Distance: 145 km/87miles
Continue towards the central valleys of Bhutan. You will pass Wangdi Dzong (fortress) which is now a ruin and Pele la Pass at 3347m/11046 ft. On the way you would find yaks grazing and beautiful views of mountains.
Overnight: Hotel in Trongsa, Altitude: 2200m/7260ft.

Day 06: Trongsa to Bumthang
Drive: 3 Hrs
Distance: 68 km/41.4miles
This morning, tour the spectacular Trongsa Dzong, up to Yotong La pass at 11,200 feet, drive to Jakar Dzong , the "castle of the white bird" perching above Bumthang.
Overnight: Hotel in Bumthang, Altitude: 2650m/8745ft.

Day 07: Bumthang Sightseeing
The cultural and historic heart of the Kingdom. Bumthang was introduced to Buddhism by Guru Rinpoche in the 8th century. Visit Jampay Lakhang, the one of the first 2 Buddhist temples built in the country. This is the home of the naked dance that is still performing annually. Visit Kurjey Temple, the site where royals are cremated, one can either walk cross the suspension bridge and visit the village of Parar and Tamshing or drive there. End your day with a walk passing by the Swiss farm. Evening stroll in Jakar town and try some local pancake and noodles.

Day 08: Bumthang Sightseeing
After an early breakfast, drive about 33km/20 miles to the famed mystical Ugyen Choling Palace. Ugen Choling is a national treasure, privately owned by the same family for hundreds of years.The best part of the Palace is the quaint museum housing permanent exhibits on three floors in the main building and the Utse, the central tower. Traditional living quarters are recreated to capture the realistic ambiance of the ancient lifestyles and conditions of the households. Everyday kitchen and weaving utensils, war weapons--including gun powder made from petrified yak dung--tools and farming implements are the main part of the exhibits. En-route visit the burning lake which is believe to be a sacred place of guru Rinpoche.

Day 09: Bumthang to Phobjikha
Drive: 6 Hrs
Distance: 180km/108miles
Retrace and enjoy the drive back to the valley of Black-necked crane. Black-necked crane is one of the rare specials of the birds in the world, which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Bhutan in winters. On arrival at Gangtey visit Gangtey Gompa, the largest and the only monastery of the Nyingmapa sect in western Bhutan. Evening relax in your hotel.

Day 10: Phobjikha to Thimphu
Drive: 5 Hrs
Distance: 120km/72miles
Take a fabulous drive back through Dochula Pass to Thimphu. Other places of interest are Bronze casting, gold an silver smith, where the traditional jewelry and statues are made. In the evening make a visit to the kuenselphodrang where you would find one of the tallest Buddha in the world which is 169ft. Overnight at Thimphu.

Day 11: Thimphu to Paro
Drive: 1 Hr
In the morning visit the Nunnery and Takin Reserve to see the rare national animal of Bhutan. This animal is chosen as the national animal of Bhutan for its uniqueness and its association with the country's religious history and mythology. After lunch travel to Paro.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival in Paro
Welcome to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Touching down at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and driver upon exiting the arrival hall. Today, we will take it easy to acclimatise to the altitude. Drive to Rinpung Dzong which the locals call the 'fortress of a heap of jewels'. Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong stands on a hill above Paro Town ship and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use.

Day 02: Paro Sightseeing
Morning hike to Tiger's Nest, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. Taktsang or the tiger's nest temple is the most revered temple to the Buddhist. This magical temple clings to a vertical granite cliff 800m above the valley. Legend has it that in the 8th century, Guru Rimpochey, a tantric master flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave around which the temple is built. Afternoon on your way back. Its your last day in Bhutan so in the evening go around the town and if you wish do shoppings and take souvenir, you are in the right place with lots of varieties of art and crafts.

Day 03: Paro to Thimphu
Drive: 1 Hr
Distance:60km/36miles
Visit the National Museum, the first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings. Continue driving to Thimphu. In the evening go around the Thimphu town and have the picture of Bhutan.

Day 04: Thimphu sightseeing
Morning visit the weekend market (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday), Hand made paper Mill, School of Arts and crafts where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan, Lunch in town. Drive pass by Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd King. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, Enclosure where national animal, Takin are kept and Zilukha Nunnery.

Day 05: Thimphu to Punakha
Drive: 3 hours
Distance:76km/45.6miles
Spend morning in Thimphu. Afternoon drive through Dochula pass, the second highest road pass in your trip at 3010m/9933ft. When the weather permits one can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. After a short tea break continue to sub tropical Punakha. Afternoon visit the Punakha Dzong (fortress) which houses the most elaborated temple in the country.

Day 06: Punakha to Phobjikha
Drive: 4 Hrs
Distance: 78km/46.8miles
Check out of the hotel and visit Chimi Lhakhang on foot, the temple of fertility associated with religious art of phallus. En route visit Wangdi town and continue to Phobjikha over the highest road pass on your trip at 3140m/10362ft. Visit Gangtey Gompa, the largest and the only monastery of the Nyingmapa sect in western Bhutan.Evening relax in your hotel or take a stroll.

Day 07: Phobjikha to Trongsa
Drve: 4 Hrs
Distance:120km/72miles
Check out from the hotel, take a 2 hrs Phobjikha Natural Trail. The trail ends beside Gantey Monastery, further drive to Trongsa over the Pelela pass at 3300m/10890ft which forms the part of the Black Mountains that divides the country into east and west. A quick stop for photo opportunity at Chendipje and Kukhubji, evening relax in your hotel.

Day 08: Trongsa to Bumthang
Drive: 3 Hrs
Distance: 95km/57miles
Morning visit the majestic Trongsa Dzong (Fortress), the home of the royals. Drive pass by the second highest road pass in your trip at 3425m (Yotong La). En route stop by the weaving place, beside the road where "Yatha"(wool weaving) is hand done which Bumthang is famous for. Pass Jakar town and drive on the dirt road for 1 hr. 30 min to the most remote valley of Tang. Cross the bridge and drive uphill for 35 min to the Ugyencholing palace which houses a museum and has a guest house.

Day 09: Bumthang Sightseeing
Drive: 1 Hrs
Distance:30km/18miles
Morning visit the museum that has a historic private collection of the lord of the valley. Drive downhill for 30 min. Continue drive. En route visit the Burning Lake of Mebar tsho. Evening spend your time independently.
Overnight: Hotel in Bumthang, Altitude: 2650m/8745ft.

Day 10: Bumthang Sightseeing
Visit Jampay Lakhang, the one of the first 2 Buddhist temples built in the country. This is the home of the naked dance that is still performed annually. Visit the Kurjey Temple, the site where Bhutan's royals are cremated. One can either walk cross the suspension bridge and visit the village of Parar and Tamshing or drive there. End your day with a walk passing by the Swiss farm. Evening stroll in Jakar town and try some local pancakes and noodles.

Day 11: Bumthang to Mongar
Drive: 7 Hrs
Distance: 198km/118.8miles
Today drive takes you through Thrumshingla, the highest road pass in the country at 3900m/12870ft making this the most spectacular drives in the country, descending 3200m/10560ft just in a distance of 84 km. En route visit Ura village, made of cluster of large stone houses and drive to Mongar.

Day 12: Mongar to Lhuentse and back to Mongar
Drive: 3 Hrs * 2
Distance:76km/45.6miles * 2
Make an excursion to the north and visit the province of Lhuntshe, ancestral home of the Bhutan's royal family. Visit the picturesque Lhuntshe Dzong (Fortress). This region is famous for bamboo basket and silk brocade dress so we will make a visit to Khoma village.

Day 13: Mongar to Trashi Yangtse
Drive: 5 Hrs
Distance: 130km/78miles
Drive pass by the famous Yadi loops to the province of Trashi Yangtshe famous for wooden containers made here using water-driven and treadle lathes. En route, visit Gom Kora temple. Visit Chorten Kora, the biggest and most important white washed stupa in the country. Stroll around the town.

Day 14: Trashi Yangtse to Trashigang
Drive: 3 Hrs
Distance: 55km/33miles
Visit the School of Arts crafts and the Drive to Trashigang. Afternoon visit Trashigang Dzong (fortress) which is perched majestically on the tip that over looks the deep gorge and Ranjung Monastic School. Evening stroll in town.
Overnight: Trashigang, Altitude: 2100m/6930ft

Day 15: Trashigang to Samdrup Jongkhar
Drive: 7 Hrs
Distance:180km/108miles
Drive pass by the first Bhutanese college. En route, stop to visit the government handloom factory. Evening relax in your hotel.
Overnight: Hotel in Samdrup Jongkhar, Altitude: 180m/594ft

Day 16: Samdrup Jongkar to Guwhati (India)
Drive: 2 Hrs
Distance: 110km/66miles
Transfer to the Guwhati Airport for your departure flight. Our tour staff will bid you farewell at the airport.

Standard Mandated Tariff:

Daily Tariff High tourist season: US $250 per person per night on twin sharing basis during the Month of March, April, May, September, October and November

Daily Tariff low tourist season: US $ 200 per person per night on twin sharing basis during the month of January, February, June, July, August, December

FIT Surcharge for groups if 1 and 2 persons: US $ 40 and US $ 30 per person per night
Visa fee: US $ 40 per person
Tourism Development Fee: US $ 10 per person
FOC tour leader: 16 Pax and above

Discounts

There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the ages of 6-12 years accompanied by elders / guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates and 100% discount on Royalty.

Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates.

A discount of 50% on daily rates shall be given to one person in a group of 11 to 15 people. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.
50%discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 8th night and 100% discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 14th night.

Luxury Package

The Luxury package is based on 4 or 5 star hotel (Aman kora, Uma and Zhiwaling and Taj Tashi) categories with extra services in addition to the Govt. Fixed minimum tariff of US$250/person/Night

Rate under cutting prohibited

The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) is responsible for all regulations and monitoring of all travel agents in Bhutan. Only upon receiving full payment, based on the mandated cost the visa is approved. Upon receiving your payment, we make a deposit to our account with the TCB, and the money is withheld by TCB until the trip is successfully taken place. It grantees safety of your payment and the services provided by us with integrity, experience and quality.

There is no charge for delays in arrival and departure because of weather conditions disrupting flights or road blocks. The tourist must however bear the cost of food, accommodation, transportation, and other services required.

8 Pax and above, we use Toyota coaster bus

PAYMENT PROCEDURE

Tour Payment:

Once the trip is confirmed, payment must be made to confirm the trip. For the flight, we issue your tickets only when the payment is wired from your side. Bank transfer is the only mode of payment for Bhutan tour package.

Payment Procedure

As a mandatory directive from the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), full payment has to be made in advance in US dollars. The payment upon reaching us is directly deposited in our account with TCB, for analyzing and enabling us to process our online visa system. We will not be allowed to withdraw the payment, until your trip has concluded successfully. This grantees safety of your payment and assures all integrity and services provided by us. Please note that all the tour groups in Bhutan are subject to the following payment procedure. Please be assured of confidence and security when using this payment method.
